The videos on this page describe additional instructional activities that support learning in inquiry mathematics classrooms. They can be used in conjunction with the other instructional sequences or as stand-alone activities.

Double Ten-Frame

This video discusses the double ten-frame activity. It is commonly used in grades K-2 to promote children's development of thinking and grouping strategies and of number facts to twenty through number relationships rather than through memorization. There is considerable overlap between the learning opportunities provided by the double ten-frame activity and activities in the Structuring Numbers instructional sequence. The double ten-frame is particularly useful in classrooms that do not use the Structuring Number sequence. It can also be used productively in second grade classrooms.
